Martin Lass is a classical and classical crossover violinist and composer. After studying at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney—violin with John Gould, Robert Pikler, and Lim Kek Tjiang and composition with Ross Edwards and Edwin Carr—he played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in its early years, was a principle player in the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for over fifteen years. During this time, as a classical composer, Martin had a number of his original works performed, not the least of which were by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and soloists such as violinist, John Harding. After this, he embarked upon a solo performing career spanning many countries from Australia to the USA and spanning many genres from classical to rock. During this time, Martin became a household name as a result of numerous regular television performances. He has ten recordings to his name, including one Gold Album. During this time, as a composer, Martin released his tenth recording consisting of all original works, some of which have been considered for film and television. The recording has gained many accolades in the USA in particular. Martin, a father of three and grandfather of two, still very active in music, now lives with his wife and cats on the Gold Coast of Australia.
